National Guard Military Police Soldiers can also be assigned to fill a law enforcement role. National Guard MP Mission #2: Law Enforcement The missions listed above are examples and every deployment as an MP will be different than the other. In a combat environment, MP’s are totally flexible. This is another vital role filled by MP’s. Controlling who enters on a Forward Operating Base, or FOB, and making sure that threats are contained before entry onto the Base. Security: Another mission assigned to military police may be base security.Military Police have the skills necessary to safely detain and care for an enemy prisoner of war. In the event of capturing an enemy combatant, an MP will be tasked with taking care of and securing of the prisoner until the prisoner can be handed off to a holding facility.
